Quote Request

Send us the right job details and we can price your brass or magnesium die properly first time. A complete brief helps us confirm size, artwork, material choice, turnaround and dispatch to your town or finishing house.

Start With the Basic Job Details

When you submit a quote request, start with the simple facts: what the die is for, the process you are running, and how many pieces you need. Tell us whether it is for hot stamping, embossing, or a combined finish, and whether the job is for offset, flexo, packaging or print finishing.

We also need the delivery area, because courier planning from Industria in Johannesburg can affect timing and packing. If the job is headed to a print finisher in Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha or elsewhere nationwide, say so upfront and note if the site has receiving restrictions or limited hours.

Send Clear Artwork and Size Information

Artwork quality has a direct effect on the quote. A clean vector file, a clear PDF, or a flat artwork image with dimensions helps us judge line weight, detail, and the size of the final die. If the file is not final, tell us what still needs to change so we can advise on the best way forward.

We need the exact finished size in millimetres, the position of the design on the sheet or package, and whether there are fine lines, small text or tight corners. If the artwork will be used on textured stock or a coated board, mention that too. It helps us judge how the impression will behave on press, especially where registration is critical.

If you already have a sample impression, send a photo or scan and note what needs improving. Sometimes the counterforce, depth or spacing needs adjustment and that can change the pricing a bit.

Tell Us About the Substrate and Finish

The stock you are working on matters. Brass dies and magnesium dies are not priced the same way, and the choice often depends on the material, run length and level of detail. If you are stamping on board, leatherette, coated stock or packaging film, say so clearly. We also need to know whether the finish must stand up to handling, rubbing, humidity or frequent repeat production.

For coastal work in Durban, Gqeberha or Cape Town, moisture can affect storage and handling, so tell us if the die will live on site for a while before use. For high-volume packaging work, let us know if the job will be repeated often, as that can influence engraving depth and wear considerations. It is better to mention this now than to adjust later.

Add Counterforce and Matching Notes

If the die needs a matching counterforce or a paired embossing plate, say so in the request. These parts must work together, and the quote depends on whether we are matching an existing tool or creating a new set from scratch. A good match saves time on press and reduces waste.

Where possible, include details of the mating tool, previous job number, or a photo of the current setup. If the job is part of a repeat order, give us the earlier reference so we can check the file before we price it. That makes the process easier and avoids starting from the wrong version, which can happen more often than people think.

How Urgent Turnaround Is Handled

If you are working to a tight deadline, say so in the first message. We can assess whether urgent turnaround is realistic based on artwork readiness, the type of die, engraving load and dispatch time. A rush request without final artwork usually slows things down, so it helps to tell us what is ready today and what is still outstanding.

For same-day or next-day requirements, include the deadline and the place of use. If the job must reach Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein or Polokwane before a set machine booking, let us know the cut-off time. We will always be direct if the timing is not workable, because it is better to plan properly than miss a finishing window.

What Happens After You Submit the Form

Once your enquiry comes through, our team reviews the artwork, dimensions and production notes before pricing. Artwork checks are handled by our prepress specialist, and if anything is unclear we come back to you with a specific question rather than guessing. That keeps the quote accurate and helps avoid rework later.

After approval, we move into die design, engraving production, packing dispatch and, where needed, job filing for future repeat orders. If the die later needs cleaning, alterations, damage assessment or a fresh impression check, we can work from the same record. It keeps repeat work easier and quicker, especially for clients who order to multiple branches or sites around the country.

Questions we get asked

What information gives the most accurate quote?

The best quote comes from clear artwork, exact sizes in millimetres, the material being stamped or embossed, the delivery town, and whether you need a matching counterforce or repeat order.

Can you quote from a rough sketch or old sample?

Yes, we can work from a sketch, photo or sample impression, but final pricing may change once the artwork and dimensions are confirmed. The clearer the reference, the more accurate the quote.

Do urgent jobs cost more?

Urgent turnaround can affect the quote because it depends on workshop load, artwork readiness and courier timing. If you need the job fast, tell us the deadline right away so we can confirm what is possible.
