Die Services

Our service offering covers the practical steps that help customers move from artwork to press-ready tooling. We support new jobs, repeat orders, urgent corrections and production planning with clear communication throughout.

Choose the right die service for your job

Different jobs need different levels of input. A first-time embossing or hot-stamping job may need artwork checks, die design and sample impression advice, while a repeat run may only need a cleaned die, a small alteration, or fresh packing for courier dispatch. We help customers in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Polokwane and Mbombela choose the right step, so the order is handled properly from the start.

If you are working to a launch date, a reprint, or a replacement after transport damage, tell us what the press needs, the substrate, and the finish you want. That makes it easier to match the tooling to your schedule, especially when the order must fit around load-shedding, machine bookings and delivery cut-offs.

  • New tooling for fresh artwork
  • Repeat jobs with stored job files
  • Urgent corrections before press
  • Courier delivery to finishing plants nationwide

Artwork checks before engraving starts

Good tooling starts with clean artwork. We check line weights, spacing, fine detail, knockouts and any areas that may fail once the die is heated and pressed into board, leatherette or coated stock. Our prepress checks help reduce avoidable errors and keep the final impression crisp.

If the artwork is not press ready, we flag the practical issues and explain what needs attention. That can include tightening small text, adjusting line depth, or changing areas that are too close together. It saves time and avoids unnecessary rework later, which is always better than discovering a problem after the machine has been set up.

  • Line and detail review
  • Text and spacing checks
  • Practical advice for impression quality
  • File handling for repeat production

Die design and engraving production

Our die design and engraving work is suited to the offset, flexo and print finishing trade. Brass and magnesium dies each have their place, and we guide customers on the best option for the run length, level of detail and required durability. Brass is often chosen for longer life and heavier use, while magnesium can suit lighter or quicker turnaround work.

Engraving is carried out with care to keep edges clean and detail consistent. That matters on packaging panels, branding marks and embossing plates where small shifts can show up on press. We also keep the job file organised for future repeats, so the same tooling can be found and referenced without delay. A tidy file is a simple thing but it saves time when the next order comes in.

Counterforce matching and sample impression advice

Embossing and hot stamping often depend on the right balance between the die, counterforce and stock. If the counterforce is off, the result can be too faint, too deep, or uneven across the sheet. We help with counterforce matching so the tooling works with the material and the finish you want.

Where needed, we also advise on sample impressions before full production. This gives the finisher a practical check on registration, depth and clarity, before the main run starts. It is particularly useful for premium packaging, labels and short-run work where the material cost is high and there is little room for error.

  • Match the die to the stock
  • Check impression depth and clarity
  • Reduce uneven pressure issues
  • Support better first-run results

Repeat orders, alterations and cleaning

Many of our customers come back with repeat work, and that is where good job filing matters. If the original die is on record, we can move faster and keep the details consistent across later runs. If changes are needed, we can handle die alterations for text updates, layout tweaks or small production changes.

We also offer die cleaning and damage assessment. Cleaning helps keep the tooling in good condition between jobs, while assessment shows whether a die can be repaired or should be remade. For packaging houses and finishers running multiple lines, that kind of practical support helps keep things on schedule, especially when a job comes in late on a Thursday and needs to move by Monday.

Packing, dispatch and urgent turnaround

Tooling needs to reach the press in good condition, so packing and dispatch are part of the service. We prepare dies for courier delivery from Industria, Johannesburg to clients nationwide, with careful packing to protect cutting edges and engraved detail in transit. Local and out-of-town deliveries are arranged with the same attention to timing and condition.

When a job is urgent, we look at the production slot, the artwork status and the dispatch window before confirming what is possible. Clear handover helps avoid confusion and keeps the order moving. If you need a fast turn on a replacement die or an alteration, send the request through our enquiry form and we will advise on the next practical step.

  • Protective packing for courier transit
  • Dispatch to print finishers and packaging houses
  • Urgent turnaround where the job allows
  • Job filing for future reorders
